On the 14th of April we held the first Docker Meetup in Cluj, as an official Docker partner. The atmosphere was exciting and thick with passion for Docker and cakes.
Be welcoming. Be respectful of other viewpoints and ideas.

Is a component of the next-generation Docker Hub, and the best place to find compliant, trusted commercial and free software distributed as Docker Images. Docker Cloud You can access your account from within Docker for Mac. From the Docker for Mac menu, sign in to Docker Cloud with your Docker ID, or create one. Then use the Docker for Mac menu to create, view, or navigate directly to your Cloud resources, including organizations, repositories, and swarms. Docker Engines has been using iptables since 1.0 for the bridge driver. Swarm mode merely makes use of iptables to provide functionality like the routing mesh. Q: Can I have only 2 nodes in swarm and both are managers and node themselves as well? Docker recommends an odd number of manager nodes as the Raft consensus requires majority consensus and to take full advantage of the fault tolerance features of swarm mode.
Instead of going to multiple places to find event information, it’s now all here in one convenient location on What is a Docker Local Chapter? Are user groups that host free, community-led gatherings for Docker enthusiasts typically in the form of a meetup. The topics and agenda are curated by each local chapter’s community leader. The result: learning and best practices for everyone.
• Bug fixes and minor changes • Use Simple NTP to minimise clock drift between the VM and the host. Sftp commands windows. Fixes • Fix filesystem event notifications for Swarm services and those using the new-style --mount option. Fixes, • Fix filesystem event delivery to Kubernetes pods when the path to the bind mount is a symlink.
VMs and why Developers care about Docker. The format of the event helped newcomers learn how to build, ship, and run distributed apps with ease thanks to the Docker platform. During the event, there was a self-paced beginners’ tutorial for attendees to learn Docker as they created an app. Our colleagues, experienced and passionate Docker users within Accesa, were mentors and helped developers learn during this training. The training So, after the introductory presentation, participants joined the training and went through the steps involved in running and developing a simple voting app from a fresh computer using Docker Toolbox and Compose. They created an app based on the example voting app, that also had an API endpoint that returned a JSON element with personalized information to identify participants’ name, location, Twitter handle, Docker Hub repo and the results of their vote for one of the following programming languages: JavaScript, Java, Ruby, PHP, Python, C++, Golang. This simple app included: • a Python webapp which lets you vote between several options • a Redis queue which collects new votes • a Java worker which consumes votes and stores them in • a Postgres database backed by a Docker volume At the end of the event, we actively celebrated the Docker Project’s 3rd birthday with more cake. Thanks to all guests for coming, hacking and the good discussions.
Q: Can you insert records into DNS to cause static IPs to be used? Docker doesn’t expose embedded DNS APIs externally. Users can provide external DNS using the --dns option and one can insert custom name-lookup entries in the external DNS server which will be used by the containers. Q: Can you talk more about automatic key rotation for secure networks?

Starting with Docker 1.12, Docker has added features to the core Docker Engine to make multi-host and multi-container orchestration simple to use and accessible to everyone. Docker 1.12 Networking plays a key role in enabling these orchestration features. In this online meetup, we learned all the new and exciting networking features introduced in Docker 1.12: • Swarm-mode networking • Routing Mesh • Ingress and Internal Load-Balancing • Service Discovery • Encrypted Network Control-Plane and Data-Plane • Multi-host networking without external KV-Store • MACVLAN Driver The number of questions Madhu got at the end of the online meetup was amazing and because he did not have time to answer all of them, we’ve added the rest of the Q&A below: Q: Will you address the DNS configuration in Docker? We have two apps created with docker compose and would like to enable communication and DNS resolution from containers in one of the apps to containers in the other app. Check out the in the Docker docs to get started. If that does not satisfy your requirement, please raise an issue in.

After trying both, Docker 1.12.2-rc1-beta27 still remains in starting mode on my MacBook Pro, it never finishes starting. Same here for me. I ran a SQL import overnight to a mySQL container in docker-machine (latest docker for mac Version 17.03.1-ce-mac5 (16048)) and when I wake up and check the status of the import, it's stuck halfway through. Docker is unresponsive, containers don't respond and trying to restart via the GUI never finishes. I first tried native docker and couldn't get the import working and thought it was because of the qcow max size of 65gb and now I'm seeing this issue. I'm starting to wonder if it's the same after all. Basically a huge SQL import or long process working in the background while the laptop is idle make docker freeze.

Talk: Managing logs and metrics with Elasticsearch (ELK) in a k8s environment with autodiscovery Dan Roscigno Senior Product Marketing Manager at Elastic Managing apps or services running in container environments is different than more traditional environments because containers are dynamic. Luckily Docker and Kubernetes provide rich metadata, metrics, and events as things happen. In this talk / demo I will show you how to collect logs and metrics from containers and the Docker / k8s infrastructure, how to keep up with change (without doing any work), and how to visualize logs and metrics together in one place. I will use the Elastic Stack (you probably call it ELK). Specifically I will use Beats (Filebeat, Metricbeat, and Packetbeat) to ship data, Elasticsearch as the search engine, and Kibana for visualization. I will provide all of the configs that I use so that you can reproduce what I show you in Katacoda, GKE, IKE, etc.
