Options within each section have more modern iconography and everything feels less cluttered. This de-cluttering is apparent throughout the suite. Kind of like, the change looks huge at first, but soon you'll realize that most of it is just window dressing. There are layout tweaks and reshuffles, but if you're switching from, say, Excel 2011 to Excel 2016 you'll still feel at home. And that's a real achievement.
Excel, Word and PowerPoint all have this fresh welcome screen, which looks almost identical to the iOS apps. So what's actually changed? Well, the Ribbon interface is still there, but it's now cleaner and clearer. Take Word for example. Sections are clearly labeled, with some efforts made to clarify the headings ('Document Elements' is gone, with its options moving to 'Insert' and 'References').
When I bought my new Mac a year and a half ago the question I asked myself was whether to buy Office or just give Pages/Numbers/Keynote a try. I still haven't bought Office - not because it isn't any good, but because the software I already have does what I need.

Just installed 15.18.0 (aka Office 2016). Office 2011 crack. If anything, slightly snappier - certainly not slower. This is on an 2014 MBP.
Hi, For your first question, if we install Office 2016 for mac, it'll remove Office 2011 first. We need to re-install Office 2011 Mac after Office 2016 for mac installation completed. For your second question, we could copy the custom templates from Office 2011 to Office 2016 with this path: Office 2011: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/ Office 2016:~ Library Group Containers UBF8T346G9.Office User Content Templates Then, If you installed Office 2016 for Mac to run side-by-side with Office for Mac 2011, any custom dictionaries that you added and enabled in Office for Mac 2011 will be automatically copied to Office 2016 for Mac. If Office finds previously created custom dictionaries in any location other than the default dictionary location, you may be prompted for additional permissions to grant access to the files.
After holding off for a while, I've just upgraded from 2011 to 2016. I only did this as I wanted to use some of the later functionality on offer (Slicers on Pivot Tables) that isn't on 2011.

Probably the most welcome new feature in Word, especially for those in corporate environments, is support for threaded comments, so that when you're inviting feedback on a document, conversations about a change can all be held together and thus be easier to parse. You might have seen Microsoft trumpet the new Smart Lookup feature, which pulls definitions and internet search results into a pane in the document, but it's not substantially different to the feature that lived in the floating toolbox in 2011. We were initially hugely disappointed that the useful notebook view from Word – which let you record, say, a meeting or lecture while taking notes, and which time-stamped each line with the audio so you could quickly jump to a part of the recording just by clicking next to the relevant note – is missing in Office 2016, but actually that ability is still there; it's just now in OneNote, not Word. Excel is the most obviously updated app in the suite, with plenty of additions to help buoy its high-end credentials and make it easier for Mac users in an organisation to create, edit and even simply open complex spreadsheets. PivotTable Slicers make it easier to filter the data in spreadsheets so you can pick out important trends or data points, and the optional Analysis Toolpak add-on is there for performing complex engineering or statistical analysis.
Much like upgrading hardware - if what you have still does what you need it to do, there's no need to upgrade. If the new software brings you new functionality or performance that your current version does not, then go ahead and pull the trigger.

Aside from universal things like stability, it's hard to imagine what new features could be added to make them much better. I'm not crazy about cloud-based anything, so I've been a little resistant toward the 365 services. Maybe some day? I have both versions, but have reverted to office 2011. Office 2016 is slower, prone to crash, takes much more memory and battery, and some useful features of 2011 have been left out of 2016 (esp.

After upgrading my Macbook Pro which runs OSX 10.10.5 (Yosemite) from Office 2011 to Office 2016, I am no longer able to connect to my Exchange 2010 corporate mailbox. Here is what I've tried and what I'm seeing: • I start Outlook 2016 which doesn't have an Exchange account.

Using Office 2011 on the Mac is like stepping back in time. Although Microsoft has done a good job updating the suite over the years, the overall look and feel of the apps just don't gel with the dramatic changes OS X has seen since 2010. The new apps change that, bringing a user interface that sits somewhere between Windows' ultra-modern look and the traditional layout of Office 2011. Although some may look on in envy at the clean, uncluttered look of the upcoming Windows' Office 2016 suite, the compromise here makes a lot of sense. Yosemite may be flatter and simpler than previous versions of OS X, but it's not Windows 10. Just transposing the UI over would be extremely jarring for Mac users currently working with Office 2011, or pretty much any OS X productivity application.

I have office for mac 2011 installed on my mac and want to upgrade this to office for mac 2016. Please is there an upgrade licence option to buy for this instead of buying the full mac for 2016 product? Thanks and best regards, Hi Alfred, There is no 'upgrade' button in Office for Mac 2011 to directly buy for Office for Mac 2016. You need to purchase a new Office for Mac 2016 product for installation. Additionally, although you can install and use Office 2016 for Mac and Office for Mac 2011 at the same time, it is still recommended that you uninstall Office for Mac 2011 before you install the new version just to prevent any confusion.
